Buyer – Construction Procurement

About the role

Bechtel is seeking a Buyer to support the Rio Grande LNG project in Brownsville, Texas. The role involves managing the end‑to‑end procurement process for materials and equipment required for the LNG liquefaction and export terminal.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineering teams to develop material requisitions and ensure clear specifications for procurement.
• Prepare bid packages, issue bid requests, and coordinate bidder inquiries.
• Evaluate bidder proposals, compile commercial bid summaries, and make award recommendations.
• Generate and commit purchase orders, securing necessary approvals.
• Maintain communication with suppliers, monitor performance, and ensure compliance with purchase order requirements.
• Support negotiations and recommend contractual commitments to meet project schedules and budgets.

Required profile

• Experience in procurement or purchasing within large‑scale construction or energy projects.
• Strong understanding of bid processes, purchase order administration, and supplier management.
• Ability to work closely with engineering and project teams to translate technical needs into procurement actions.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of bid preparation and evaluation.
• Familiarity with purchase order systems and documentation.
• Understanding of supplier performance monitoring.
