Accuracy Control Engineer – Shipbuilding

About the role

The Accuracy Control Engineer develops and maintains dimensional control systems that ensure large ship structures align correctly throughout fabrication, assembly, and erection. You will establish measurement standards, control points, and engineering processes that enable reliable fit‑up of ship blocks and modules.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and manage the shipyard’s accuracy control program, defining measurement standards and tolerances for panels, sub‑assemblies, blocks and erected structures.
• Implement and operate advanced metrology technologies such as laser scanning, total stations and digital measurement tools.
• Work closely with fabrication and assembly teams to ensure dimensional accuracy during panel line production, block construction and hull erection.
• Define allowable tolerances in coordination with naval architects and structural engineers.
• Investigate dimensional discrepancies, perform root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Integrate dimensional control data with digital ship models, supporting digital twins and production simulation.
• Collaborate with welding engineering, quality assurance and ship design teams to address distortion effects and verification processes.

Required profile

• Experience in shipbuilding or large‑scale structural fabrication environments.
• Strong understanding of dimensional control, tolerance development and metrology principles.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with production engineering, welding, QA and design teams.
• Proactive problem‑solving mindset for root‑cause investigations and process improvements.
