Shipyard Build Strategy Engineer

About the role

Saronic Technologies is seeking a Shipyard Build Strategy Engineer to define how ships are built and how the shipyard itself is designed. This position sits at the intersection of product definition, build strategy, and facility architecture, ensuring that buildings, cranes, transport routes, and production flow are optimized for throughput, repeatability, and scalability.

Key responsibilities

• Define block‑based build strategies that align with facility geometry and crane systems.
• Set block size, weight, and envelope targets to maximize throughput and flow.
• Translate vessel class, annual build rate, and steel tonnage into concrete facility capacity requirements.
• Develop pre‑outfitting rules to shift labor upstream and reduce shipboard work.
• Identify and eliminate facility‑driven bottlenecks early in the design phase.
• Ensure material flow supports parallel workstreams and predictable sequencing.
• Integrate build strategy across facilities, heavy‑lift, manufacturing engineering, and design teams.

Required profile

• Experience in block‑based ship construction or heavy modular fabrication environments.
• Strong understanding of crane‑driven production systems and facility constraints.
• Proven ability to work with incomplete information to shape irreversible facility decisions.
• Background influencing shipyard layouts, crane strategies, or major facility decisions.
