Building Inspector – Ensure Safety & Compliance

About the role

Join Bureau Veritas as a Building Inspector and play a vital role in safeguarding the safety, compliance, and quality of construction projects across Sacramento County. You will conduct thorough inspections at various stages of construction, renovation, or alteration, ensuring strict adherence to local building codes and standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial properties to verify compliance with building codes, zoning regulations, and other applicable standards.
• Review building plans, blueprints, and specifications to assess regulatory compliance and identify potential discrepancies.
• Perform onsite inspections during different construction phases to evaluate structural integrity, electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems, energy and green code, accessibility, and overall safety measures.
• Document inspection findings accurately, prepare detailed reports, and issue citations or stop‑work orders when necessary.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to resolve compliance issues and provide guidance on corrective actions.
• Respond to inquiries from property owners, contractors, and the public regarding building codes and inspection processes.

Required profile

• High school graduation or equivalent with experience in building inspection, construction trades, construction management, or a related field.
• Certification as a building inspector or ability to obtain certification within a specified timeframe.
• ICC certifications (e.g., Residential Building, Commercial Building, Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing) preferred.
• Strong knowledge of local, state, and national building codes, regulations, and standards.
• Excellent analytical abilities, attention to detail, and problem‑solving skills.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel independently to various job sites.
