Building Construction Project Superintendent – Childcare Plan Reviewer

About the role

This position serves as the senior technical resource for evaluating architectural plans and fire‑safety specifications in child‑care facilities. The incumbent will protect life and property by ensuring compliance with fire and explosion safety rules and will act as the agency’s expert on fire‑safety regulations for child‑care environments.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate complex architectural plans and specifications for fire‑safety compliance in child‑care facilities.
• Interpret and apply fire safety rules, providing guidance to architects, engineers, owners, and external agencies.
• Represent the Bureau of Fire Service (BFS) in meetings and assist stakeholders on rule application.
• Serve as a technical resource for rule promulgation, modification requests, and policy formulation.
• Provide formal training to BFS personnel, fire‑service members, and the regulated community on fire‑safety rules.
• Oversee construction, remodeling, and maintenance projects, ensuring adherence to safety standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, or building construction.
• At least three years of professional experience overseeing construction, including one year equivalent to a Building Construction Project Superintendent P11.
• Alternatively, four years as a superintendent or foreman in building construction trades or equivalent inspection/planning experience.
