Biomedical Technician Per Diem

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Clinical Engineering team is seeking a Per Diem Biomedical Technician to support the UHealth Medical Campus. This full‑time, temporary position involves hands‑on work with a variety of medical devices, ensuring they remain safe and functional for patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain, calibrate, and repair biomedical equipment under guidance of senior engineers.
• Use standard and specialized electronic test equipment to verify equipment performance.
• Repair, test, and calibrate devices according to OEM/AEM specifications and Joint Commission standards.
• Support recall and safety‑alert programs, including device hazard investigations.
• Complete all scheduled in‑service tests (ITMs) each month.
• Order replacement parts and supplies needed for equipment servicing.
• Prioritize workload, document activities accurately, and adhere to university policies.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 6 months of relevant biomedical equipment experience.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
• Capability to handle confidential information discreetly.
• Willingness to work evenings, nights, and weekends as needed.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a collaborative team.

Required skills

• Proficiency with electronic test equipment and tools.
• Experience in biomedical equipment repair and calibration.
• Knowledge of OEM/AEM specifications and Joint Commission standards.
