Biologist II – Assay Development & Data Analysis

About the role

The Biologist II will develop assays and perform quantitative data analysis for the Pain and Neuronal Health Group, working with molecular biology and mammalian cell culture techniques.

Key responsibilities

• Perform and document in vitro and ex vivo experiments using cell lines, primary cells, human biospecimens and disease‑relevant models.
• Develop, optimize and execute robust assays for target validation, mechanism studies and compound profiling.
• Conduct immunostaining, quantitative microscopy, ELISA, multiplex assays and flow cytometry, and analyze imaging data.
• Execute core molecular biology methods such as PCR, western blotting, protein assays and cell culture.
• Maintain accurate electronic laboratory notebook records and ensure lab cleanliness and equipment readiness.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry or related field.
• Minimum two years of hands‑on laboratory experience with molecular biology and mammalian cell culture.
• Strong attention to detail, good work ethic and ability to collaborate across neuroscience, immunology and translational science teams.

Required skills

• Mammalian cell culture (transient and stable transfection).
• Immunostaining, PCR, ELISA and flow cytometry.
• Assay development and optimization.
• Western blotting, protein assays and quantitative microscopy.
• Proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Word and Excel.
