Bioinformatician Staff Scientist

About the role

The Metabolomics Shared Resource at Georgetown University Medical Center seeks a full‑time Bioinformatics Scientist to support experimental design and data analysis for metabolomics studies. The role involves pre‑ and post‑processing of LC‑MS and GC‑MS data, development of pipelines, and integration of multi‑omics datasets.

Key responsibilities

• Process raw LC‑MS and GC‑MS data, perform quality control, batch correction, and normalization.
• Develop and maintain bioinformatics pipelines for data pre‑ and post‑processing, including peak alignment and feature extraction.
• Conduct advanced statistical and bioinformatics analyses of high‑dimensional metabolomics, lipidomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics data.
• Collaborate with wet‑lab scientists to design experiments and integrate multi‑omics results.
• Provide timely data reporting, graphical presentations, and support future experiment design.

Required profile

• MS in bioinformatics, biostatistics, computational biology or related field (PhD preferred).
• Experience analyzing and integrating multi‑dimensional omics data.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with R and Bioconductor.
• Experience processing LC‑MS and GC‑MS data.
• Metabolic modeling and flux analysis for mammalian systems.
• Building bioinformatics pipelines and databases.
• Statistical analysis of high‑dimensional datasets.
