Background Check Associate

About the role

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) is seeking an organized, professional and results-oriented individual to serve as Background Check Associate in Chicago. The position is full time, salaried, Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, with an anticipated hybrid schedule of 1 to 5 days per week in the office. It is a union position, so the collective bargaining agreement applies.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as Background Check Associate.
• Enter data into the departmental systems, including CANTS, the Sex Offender Registry System (SORS), the National Sex Offender Registry System (NSORS), out-of-state CANTS, interstate criminal history, Illinois State Police records, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and driver eligibility status for facility drivers.
• Prepare, keyboard and maintain complex, highly specialized Background Check Unit (BCU) reports and other reports related to application and recommendation materials processed through the Central Office.

Required profile

• Excellent organizational skills.
• Strong leadership and communication capabilities.
• Bilingual skills are welcome.
• Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; the state does not sponsor visas.
