Backend Software Engineer – New York

About the role

Mistral AI is looking for passionate Backend Software Engineers to join its growing New York team. You will help build the core systems that power AI Studio, Le Chat, and Mistral Code, enabling millions of users and developers to interact with the company’s AI platform at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend features and APIs using modern frameworks.
• Ensure high performance, reliability, and security across distributed systems.
• Contribute to components such as inference services, billing, AI tooling, observability, and developer experience.
• Collaborate with infrastructure teams on deployment, monitoring, and performance optimization.
• Work closely with product managers, platform engineers, and AI/ML teams to deliver model‑as‑a‑service solutions.
• Tackle complex engineering challenges and stay current with emerging technologies.
