Backend Software Engineer – Content Foundations

About the role

Scribd’s Content Foundations team builds the core systems that ingest, process, and deliver content across all Scribd products. As a Backend Software Engineer you will work at the intersection of messy, real‑world content and highly structured services, helping to turn diverse file formats and inconsistent metadata into reliable data streams that power search, recommendations, AI/ML models, and the reading/listening experience.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain scalable backend services for content ingestion and metadata extraction.
• Develop early quality‑control pipelines to ensure data integrity at scale.
• Collaborate with product, data, and ML teams to expose clean artifacts for search, recommendation, and AI systems.
• Optimize performance and reliability of content processing workflows.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and documentation to uphold engineering standards.
