Authorized Inspector for Metal Fabrication & Pressure Vessels

About the role

Bureau Veritas is seeking a diligent, mechanically‑inclined Authorized Inspector to perform ASME and National Board inspections for metal fabrication and pressure vessel clients in the Houston/Beaumont area. The role offers comprehensive training, competitive compensation and a path to a long‑term career.

Key responsibilities

• Perform ASME and National Board shop and field inspection services, including code verification, quality‑control system review, and witnessing required tests.
• Monitor client quality‑control systems for compliance with applicable codes and jurisdictional requirements.
• Document all inspection activities according to established policies.
• Ensure compliance with ASME Code, National Board Inspection Code, and relevant jurisdictional regulations for construction and repair of boilers and pressure vessels.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years experience in nuclear reactors, boiler, or pressure‑vessel design, welding, fabrication, operation, repair, inspection, NDE, or quality‑control oversight.
• High school diploma; a STEM BS/AS degree, CWI, or technical certificate may substitute for 2 years of experience.
• Ability to complete Bureau Veritas’ 2‑week ASME training and obtain a National Board Authorized Inspector Commission with “R” endorsement (or already hold the commission).

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of ASME Sections I, IV, V, VIII, IX and B31.1.
• Understanding of National Board Inspection Code and jurisdictional requirements.
• Ability to read, write and speak clearly, use a computer and perform basic arithmetic.
