Audio Visual Technician – Full‑time

About the role

The University of Miami’s Information Technology & Systems Department seeks a full‑time Audio‑Visual Technician to support classrooms, learning spaces, and live events across campus.

Key responsibilities

• Assist faculty and speakers with audio‑visual devices and presentation software.
• Ensure equipment is correctly configured and operating properly for presentations.
• Arrange and supervise periodic maintenance and repairs of all audio‑visual equipment.
• Record lectures and guest presentations, perform basic video editing, and post recordings to university websites.
• Provide group and individual training on university audio‑visual equipment.
• Document and maintain procedures related to equipment usage.

Required profile

• Associate degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience.
• Valid unrestricted Florida driver’s license.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lb, climb ladders, and work on feet for extended periods.

Required skills

• Setup, routing, and troubleshooting of AV hardware (digital displays, laser projectors, wireless microphones, audio mixing consoles, Extron, Crestron).
• Proficiency with unified communications tools (Zoom Rooms, Microsoft Teams Rooms, webcams, tracking cameras, boundary microphones).
• Experience with signal distribution formats (HDMI, SDI, Dante).
