Associate Scientist II, PD Downstream

About the role

Bionova Scientific LLC, a rapidly growing biologics CDMO, is seeking an Associate Scientist II to join its Purification Development team. The role focuses on developing and optimizing downstream purification processes for a variety of recombinant protein products, including mAbs, bispecifics, enzymes, and Fc‑fusions.

Key responsibilities

• Support development, optimization, and validation of purification workflows and manage process transfers between client sites and manufacturing.
• Lead multiple client projects in parallel, generating innovative tools and technologies to enable first‑pass scale‑up.
• Collaborate with senior leadership and cross‑functional teams to design downstream strategies and troubleshoot purification challenges.
• Prepare technical documentation such as process development reports, tech‑transfer protocols, and regulatory filings.

Required profile

• BS/MS in Biological Sciences or a related discipline with 2‑4 years of relevant industry experience.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities, excellent oral and written communication, and a collaborative, results‑oriented work ethic.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of protein purification techniques: affinity, ion‑exchange, mixed‑mode, size‑exclusion chromatography, viral inactivation, depth filtration, tangential flow filtration, ultrafiltration/diafiltration.
• Experience operating AKTA chromatography systems.
• Familiarity with JMP statistical software and Design of Experiments (DoE) methodology.
