Associate Scientist – Alzheimer’s Disease Research

About the role

The Hussman Institute at the University of Miami seeks an Associate Scientist to lead statistical genetic research on Alzheimer’s Disease. The role involves analyzing large genomic datasets, interpreting results, and contributing to high‑impact publications.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute genome‑wide association and high‑throughput sequencing analyses focused on AD risk and protective loci.
• Develop robust statistical frameworks for integrative genomic studies, including gene‑gene and gene‑environment interaction modeling in multi‑ancestry cohorts.
• Perform functional bioinformatics and admixture analyses to elucidate biological mechanisms.
• Prepare manuscripts, technical reports, and patent documentation; present findings to international AD consortia.
• Supervise and train post‑doctoral, pre‑doctoral, and master‑level analysts.
• Write extramural grant proposals and manage project resources.

Required profile

• Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in genetics, bioinformatics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant research experience, preferably in statistical genetics or neurodegenerative disease.
• Demonstrated record of scientific publications and grant writing.
