Associate Program Director for PK-12 Engineering Outreach

About the role

The Associate Director of Spark! PK-12 Engineering Education Outreach supports the Director in leading and managing initiatives that expand high‑quality PK‑12 engineering education and workforce pathways across Texas. The role translates strategic priorities into measurable objectives, staff assignments, and sustainable programs.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the Director’s principal operational deputy, exercising delegated decision‑making and representing Spark! with internal and external stakeholders.
• Develop and execute short‑ and long‑term strategic priorities, turning organizational goals into actionable plans, timelines, and performance measures.
• Oversee PK‑12 outreach programs, ensuring effective planning, coordination, and evaluation.
• Lead the design, implementation, evaluation, and scaling of workforce‑development initiatives for high‑school students.
• Establish and monitor key performance indicators, analyze program data, and guide continuous improvement.
• Supervise, coach, and develop staff, fostering a collaborative and high‑performing team culture.
• Build and maintain strategic partnerships with faculty, industry, school systems, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations.
• Assist with budget development, fiscal approval authority, and ensure compliance with university and sponsor policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least eight years of related experience.
