About the role
The Division of Colorectal Surgery at the University of Miami Leonard Miller School of Medicine seeks a fellowship‑trained surgeon to join its multidisciplinary colorectal team as an Associate Professor of Clinical Surgery. The role combines patient care, research, and education within a high‑quality clinical environment.
Key responsibilities
- Participate in clinical and educational activities for the Division of Colorectal Surgery and the Department of Surgery.
- Oversee outcomes, quality metrics, and patient experience for the program.
- Conduct daily unit rounds, inpatient follow‑up, and provide 24/7 inpatient/outpatient care.
- Run outpatient clinics, coordinate care with primary physicians, and collaborate with hospital staff to optimize resource use and length of stay.
- Implement clinical pathways, conduct root‑cause analyses, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
- Teach and mentor residents and fellows rotating through the program.
Required profile
- Board‑certified colorectal surgeon with fellowship training.
- Strong interest in the needs of colorectal surgery patients and related surgical anomalies.
- Knowledge of professional medical principles, procedures, techniques, and pharmacologic agents.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
