Associate Professor – Medical Oncology & Thoracic Section Chief

About the role

The University of Miami seeks an Associate Professor to lead the Thoracic Section within the Division of Medical Oncology. This senior faculty position combines clinical care, research, education, and operational leadership to advance the mission of the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Key responsibilities

• Direct clinical activities of the Thoracic Section and ensure consistent, high‑quality patient care.
• Oversee trainees—including fellows, residents, and medical students—on inpatient teaching services.
• Lead faculty recruitment, mentorship, and scholarly activities.
• Manage the Section’s budget, expenditures, and fiscal responsibilities.
• Participate in divisional, departmental, and tumor board meetings, as well as grand rounds.
• Drive quality‑improvement initiatives in collaboration with department and health‑system leadership.

Required profile

• Board‑certified in Medical Oncology with expertise in thoracic malignancies.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in an academic or clinical setting.
• Strong record of clinical research, education, and scholarly productivity.
• Experience supervising residents, fellows, and medical students.
