Associate Packaging Equipment Engineer

About the role

Alcon is seeking an Associate Packaging Equipment Engineer to join its Engineering team in Houston, Texas. The role focuses on troubleshooting, validating, and optimizing packaging systems for medical devices, ensuring product protection, sterilization compatibility, regulatory compliance, and cost efficiency throughout the product lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Perform specialized technical tasks and research to improve project outcomes.
• Design new processes and modify existing ones to increase efficiency.
• Evaluate and resolve manufacturing, design, quality, and material engineering issues.
• Develop test procedures, estimate costs, plan and execute projects while managing budgets and supervising contractors.
• Establish engineering standards and budgetary controls.
• Introduce new or modified equipment, tools, software, and systems.
• Collaborate to assess engineering feasibility, cost‑effectiveness, and customer demand.
• Maintain detailed documentation and adhere to GxP regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience (or high school + 8 years; Associate + 4 years).
• Fluent English reading, writing, and communication skills.
• Ability to work onsite Monday‑Friday, 8:00 AM‑5:00 PM CST.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% and relocate if needed.
