Associate or Assistant Professor of Nursing (Teaching Track)

About the role

Hofstra University's Northwell School of Nursing and Physician Assistant Studies is hiring a full-time Associate or Assistant Professor of Nursing on the teaching track. The position sits in the Nursing Program and focuses on instructing undergraduate and graduate nursing students.

Key responsibilities

• Instruct Bachelor of Science, Master of Science and Doctor of Nursing Practice students and grade their work independently
• Create innovative curricula using experiential pedagogies and adult learning theory, and take part in curriculum development, design, implementation, coordination and evaluation
• Review and update syllabi and keep course materials current on the learning management system (Canvas)
• Take part in faculty governance, retreats and departmental meetings, and in university-wide admission and recruitment events
• Advise students and help them meet their needs
• Maintain clinical and professional experience in the field, including CCNE and AC-PE accreditation standards
• Engage in community service, lifelong learning and leadership in national or international professional organizations

Required profile

• Master's degree or higher in nursing; doctoral degree preferred
• Active New York State Registered Nurse license
• Specialty certification preferred, required for the graduate level
• 3 years of collegiate teaching experience and 5 years of clinical experience preferred
• Experience with simulation preferred

Required skills

• Excellent communication, organizational, teaching, leadership and time management skills
• Proficiency in learning management systems, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

• Starting salary range of $115,000-$135,000
