Associate Manufacturing - Solution Prep (Nights)

About the role

Amgen is hiring an Associate Manufacturing - Solution Prep (Nights) for its manufacturing area at its Rhode Island facility. The role performs operations within solutions manufacturing and requires knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and understanding of batch records. It is a 12-hour rotating shift (7PM-7AM), with an administrative Monday-to-Friday schedule of about 8am to 5pm during the initial 2-6 week onboarding and training.

Key responsibilities

• Perform batching and transfer of buffers and media in appropriate areas according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Follow and monitor critical processes, complete routine validation protocols, and regularly draft and revise documents such as manufacturing procedures, SOPs and technical reports
• Conduct basic troubleshooting and assist in reviewing documentation for assigned functions
• May initiate and own area deviations, revise SOPs and perform LEAN functions
• Identify, recommend and implement improvements to routine functions

Required profile

• High school/GED plus 2 years of manufacturing or operations experience, or an Associate's degree plus 6 months of such experience, or a Bachelor's degree in a related field
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Science or Engineering
• Preferred: knowledge of large-scale biotechnology operations (purification, cell culture, aseptic processing), single-use systems, CFR and regulatory knowledge, mechanical ability, basic statistical math, technical writing, project management and presentation skills, and basic chemistry, biology and physics principles

Required skills

• Understanding and application of GMP
• Basic troubleshooting on production equipment
• Experience with Delta V and lab equipment/testing
