Profluent · Emeryville
Job description
About the role
Profluent, an AI‑driven biology lab, is seeking an Associate Director to lead its in vivo pharmacology strategy for customized base editor therapeutics. You will oversee rodent and non‑human primate studies that evaluate editing activity, delivery, biodistribution, durability, tolerability, biomarker response, and translational potential.
Key responsibilities
- Define and execute in vivo pharmacology strategy for base‑editor programs, spanning early proof‑of‑concept through candidate nomination and IND‑enabling planning.
- Design and supervise rodent and NHP studies assessing editing efficiency, delivery performance, tissue distribution, exposure, dose response, durability, pharmacodynamic biomarkers, and tolerability.
- Serve as the in vivo pharmacology lead on cross‑functional teams, translating complex datasets into clear recommendations for candidate selection, dose rationale, and development pathways.
- Manage external CROs and vivarium partners, including protocol development, vendor selection, study monitoring, sample logistics, data quality control, and report review.
- Collaborate with bioanalytical, molecular biology, computational, and translational teams to integrate readouts such as NGS, ddPCR/qPCR, RNA/protein assays, histology, clinical chemistry, cytokine, and immunology measurements.
- Build scalable in vivo pharmacology capabilities, including study design templates, decision criteria, CRO workflows, sample management processes, and data review standards.
Required profile
- Extensive experience leading in vivo pharmacology programs in biotech or pharmaceutical settings.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively across gene editing, protein engineering, delivery, computational biology, bioanalytics, and translational science teams.
- Strong track record of generating decision‑quality in vivo data that informs editor selection, dosing strategies, and IND‑enabling plans.
- Excellent project management skills with experience overseeing CRO‑driven studies and vivarium operations.
