Associate Director for Industry Relations

About the role

The Associate Director for Industry Relations leads the university’s efforts to build and sustain partnerships with industry, fostering collaboration that advances research, education, and economic development. Reporting to senior leadership, this role works closely with faculty, students, and external partners to align university capabilities with industry needs.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a strategic plan for industry engagement and business development.
• Identify, negotiate, and manage partnerships with Fortune 500 companies and regional businesses.
• Coordinate collaborative research projects, internships, and workforce development initiatives.
• Serve as the primary liaison between the university and external stakeholders, representing the institution at conferences and events.
• Track partnership outcomes, prepare reports, and secure funding opportunities.

Required profile

• Proven experience in business development or industry relations, preferably in higher‑education or research environments.
• Strong understanding of technology transfer, commercialization, and workforce development.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills with senior corporate leaders.
• Ability to work collaboratively across academic departments and external organizations.
