Associate Attorney (Toxic Tort) - Asbestos Defense

About the role

Segal McCambridge, a nationally recognized litigation firm, is hiring an Associate Attorney with 1+ years of asbestos defense or toxic tort litigation experience for its New York City office. The role sits within the New York Asbestos Defense team, working on complex matters with hands-on courtroom experience and mentorship from experienced trial attorneys.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a diverse caseload covering asbestos and toxic tort defense, product liability and premises exposure claims
• Draft pleadings, discovery and dispositive motions
• Conduct and defend depositions of fact and expert witnesses
• Manage discovery and develop case strategy
• Attend court conferences, hearings, mediations and settlement negotiations
• Communicate directly with clients, insurers and opposing counsel
• Assist with trial preparation and participate in trial as needed

Required profile

• Licensed to practice law in New York (required)
• 1+ years of experience in asbestos defense, toxic tort or related litigation
• Additional licenses in Connecticut, New Jersey or Pennsylvania are highly desirable
• Proven ability to handle motion practice, depositions and client communications independently
