Associate Attorney - Insurance Defense & Litigation

About the role

Segal McCambridge is expanding its Detroit (Southfield) office and is looking for Associate Attorneys to join its insurance defense and litigation practice. The role suits someone who wants substantive responsibility, hands-on courtroom experience and growth within a fast-moving, respected team.

Key responsibilities

• Handle Michigan No-Fault (PIP), automobile negligence, trucking, premises liability and other general liability matters
• Manage a litigation caseload from inception through resolution
• Conduct discovery, take and defend depositions, and draft motions and briefs
• Represent clients in court appearances, case evaluations and mediations
• Work directly with senior attorneys and clients on strategic case development
• Build litigation skills in a supportive, team-oriented environment

Required profile

• Licensed to practice law in Michigan, or eligible for admission
• Interest or experience in insurance defense, PIP, trucking or general liability litigation
• Newer attorneys with litigation internships, clerkships or clinical experience are encouraged to apply
