Associate Attorney, General Liability Defense

About the role

Segal McCambridge, a nationally recognized litigation firm, is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join its General Liability Defense Practice Group in its Austin, Texas office. The practice covers complex civil defense matters such as trucking and transportation, premises liability, product liability, construction litigation and other general liability cases. The position is hybrid, with more in-office collaboration during onboarding and development, and offers substantial litigation responsibility and close work with experienced trial lawyers.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a litigation caseload with partner guidance and mentorship
• Draft and argue motions, conduct depositions and manage written discovery
• Appear in court and take part in trials and trial preparation
• Defend clients in trucking, premises liability, product liability, toxic tort/asbestos and other general liability matters
• Work directly with sophisticated clients on complex, high-exposure litigation

Required profile

• Active license to practice law in Texas
• At least 3 years of experience defending civil litigation matters
• Experience with trucking/transportation, premises liability, product liability, toxic tort/asbestos or general liability defense preferred

Required skills

• Legal research, writing, motion practice and discovery
• Taking and defending depositions and managing key litigation responsibilities
• Strong communication, organizational and time-management skills
