About the role
The University of Arkansas School of Law seeks an outstanding scholar and teacher to join its faculty in an open‑rank position covering Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor levels. The appointment is tenure‑track and focuses on criminal law, encompassing teaching, research, and service.
Key responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in criminal law and related subjects.
- Develop new curricula and innovative teaching methods.
- Supervise student research, theses, and extracurricular activities.
- Maintain an active research agenda, publish in peer‑reviewed journals, and present at conferences.
- Contribute to departmental, college, and university service committees.
- Seek external funding and engage with the broader legal community.
Required profile
- Ph.D., J.D., or equivalent terminal degree in law with a specialization in criminal law.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching and a strong record of scholarly publications.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom and campus.
- Eligibility for tenure‑track appointment at the assistant, associate, or full professor level.
Required skills
- Deep expertise in criminal law theory and practice.
- Effective classroom instruction and curriculum development.
- Scholarly research and academic writing.
- Grant writing and ability to secure research funding.
