Assistant/Associate VP, Online Learning

About the role

The Assistant/Associate Vice President of Online Learning leads the development, coordination, and continuous improvement of the University of Miami’s online academic programs. Reporting to the Associate Provost, this senior leader works with internal and external stakeholders to advance student success and align online offerings with the university’s strategic goals.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the subject‑matter expert for online program design, assessment, and accreditation.
• Implement strategic plan objectives related to online education across assigned divisions.
• Direct and oversee online educational initiatives, ensuring quality and compliance.
• Manage student advisement, recruitment, retention, and diversity efforts.
• Build partnerships with external entities to create scholarship and collaborative opportunities.
• Monitor program reviews and maintain accreditation standards.
• Prepare and manage departmental budgets and resource allocation.
• Provide guidance, mentorship, and oversight to faculty and staff.
• Ensure internal controls, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in online higher‑education leadership or related areas.
• Demonstrated strategic leadership aligned with university values and mission.
• Proven ability to drive operational transformation and lead change initiatives.
• Strong financial stewardship and budget management experience.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and partnership development skills.
• Commitment to innovation and continuous improvement in online learning.
