Assistant/Associate Professor of Biomedical Sciences (Tenure‑Track)

About the role

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore School of Veterinary Medicine seeks a full‑time, 12‑month, tenure‑track faculty member to join its biomedical sciences team. The successful candidate will teach foundational biomedical courses in the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program and develop a robust research agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Teach veterinary foundational biomedical sciences courses, including lectures, labs, and active‑learning sessions.
• Design and assess curriculum components using evidence‑based instructional strategies.
• Develop and implement formative and summative assessments aligned with competency‑based veterinary education.
• Advise and mentor DVM students academically and professionally.
• Establish an independent or collaborative research program in veterinary or comparative biomedical sciences.
• Publish scholarly work in peer‑reviewed journals and pursue external funding appropriate to career stage.
• Engage students in research projects and scholarly activities.

Required profile

• Doctorate (Ph.D. or equivalent) in a biomedical or related field.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the university level.
• Strong record of scholarly productivity and potential for external funding.
• Commitment to service, mentorship, and the mission of UMES.
