About the role
The Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Texas A&M University seeks a full‑time, tenure‑track or tenured faculty member at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The position focuses on synthesis, processing, and manufacturing of powder‑based ceramics and metals, with an emphasis on powder synthesis, high‑entropy materials, and additive manufacturing for extreme‑environment applications.
Key responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in materials science and engineering.
- Advise and mentor students at all levels.
- Develop and lead an independent, externally funded research program.
- Participate in departmental service, committees, and professional activities.
- Collaborate with faculty across engineering disciplines and utilize the Center for Alloy and Powder Synthesis (CAPS).
Required profile
- Earned doctorate in materials science and engineering or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated expertise in powder‑based ceramics or metals, including synthesis, processing, and manufacturing.
- Research experience in powder synthesis (including non‑equilibrium processes), high‑entropy materials, or additive manufacturing for demanding applications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
