Assistant/Associate Professor – Director of Veterinary Clinical Skills

About the role

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore School of Veterinary Medicine seeks a full‑time Assistant or Associate Professor to serve as Director of Veterinary Clinical Skills. The role provides academic and operational leadership for the Clinical Skills program within the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine curriculum.

Key responsibilities

• Lead development, implementation and continuous improvement of the Clinical Skills curriculum.
• Oversee simulation‑based education and procedural skills training for DVM students.
• Design and administer competency‑based assessments, including Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs).
• Manage day‑to‑day operations of the clinical skills laboratory.
• Ensure alignment with AVMA COE accreditation standards and institutional learning outcomes.
• Promote scholarly activity related to veterinary clinical education.

Required profile

• Eligibility for Assistant or Associate Professor rank.
• Experience in veterinary clinical education and curriculum leadership.
• Ability to integrate teaching, assessment and research within a DVM program.
• Commitment to preparing practice‑ready graduates for rural, food‑animal, public‑health and underserved communities.
