Assistant/Associate Professor – Anatomy (Tenure‑Track)

About the role

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore School of Veterinary Medicine seeks a full‑time, 12‑month, tenure‑track Assistant or Associate Professor of Anatomy. The faculty member will design and deliver anatomy instruction for the DVM curriculum, covering gross anatomy, histology, embryology, and comparative vertebrate anatomy.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and teach professional‑level courses and labs in gross anatomy, histology, embryology, and comparative anatomy.
• Integrate clinical correlations and active‑learning strategies to enhance student reasoning.
• Create course objectives, assessments, and evaluation tools aligned with program competencies.
• Prepare, administer, and grade written and practical examinations.
• Oversee laboratory operations, including cadaver procurement, safety compliance, and specimen preparation.
• Collaborate with faculty on curriculum integration, scholarly activity, mentorship, and service to support AVMA COE accreditation.

Required profile

• PhD, DVM, or equivalent with expertise in anatomy.
• Demonstrated teaching experience in veterinary or biomedical anatomy.
• Commitment to scholarly research, student mentorship, and service.
• Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary academic environment.
