Assistant/Associate Nutrition & Community Health Extension Agent

About the role

The LSU AgCenter seeks an Assistant/Associate Extension Agent to deliver nutrition and community‑health programming across Jefferson Davis and Acadia parishes. This non‑tenure‑track, 100% extension appointment splits time between general nutrition education (80%) and EFNEP leadership (20%).

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a work plan for Flavors of Health (FOH) nutrition education in Jefferson Davis Parish.
• Recruit participants, implement core curricula, and create culturally relevant education materials.
• Facilitate a community advisory committee to guide program direction.
• Disseminate research‑based nutrition information through newsletters, social media, workshops, and parish web pages.
• Lead and supervise EFNEP activities in Acadia Parish, providing technical guidance and oversight.
• Collaborate with the Parish Chair, NCH Regional Coordinator, Regional Director, and state office staff.
• Support Healthy Community projects and other stakeholder engagements.

Required profile

• Ability to work under supervision of LSU AgCenter leadership.
• Experience in community‑based nutrition education and outreach.
• Strong organizational skills to manage program planning, recruitment, and material development.
• Effective communication skills for diverse audiences and stakeholder groups.
