Assistant/Associate Extension Agent – Agriculture & Natural Resources

About the role

The LSU Extension seeks an Assistant or Associate Extension Agent to serve Madison and Tensas parishes in Louisiana. This non‑tenure‑track faculty position focuses on delivering research‑based agricultural and natural‑resource information to producers and the broader community.

Key responsibilities

• Provide on‑farm visits, area‑wide demonstrations, workshops, field days, and other educational events.
• Develop and maintain advisory committees to assess client needs and evaluate program impact.
• Produce and disseminate newsletters, factsheets, social‑media posts, and press articles.
• Maintain and update the LSU AgCenter web pages for the assigned parishes.
• Assist with pesticide re‑certification training and other regulatory education.
• Engage with local agricultural organizations such as Farm Bureau, Cattlemen’s Association, and Master Gardener groups.
• Collaborate with other Extension faculty at parish, regional, and state levels.

Required profile

• Familiarity with major commodities in Madison and Tensas parishes (cotton, grains, etc.).
• Strong commitment to professional development and staying current with agricultural research.
• Ability to work independently and as an effective team player.
• Willingness to travel within the service area for client outreach and training.
