Assistant Women's Basketball Coach

About the role

The Saint Louis University women’s basketball program is seeking an Assistant Coach to support the head coach in delivering a competitive NCAA Division I experience. Reporting to the head coach, you will help manage daily operations, conditioning, practice planning, recruiting, and travel logistics while fostering academic and personal growth of student‑athletes.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the head coach in designing and conducting team practices, providing both group and individual instruction.
• Support player development through skill drills, strength‑and‑conditioning programs, and performance analysis.
• Monitor and report on student‑athletes’ academic progress.
• Conduct recruiting activities: communicate with high‑school prospects, travel to scout games, evaluate talent, and deliver feedback to the head coach.
• Coordinate travel arrangements and other operational tasks as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree.
• At least two years of playing or coaching experience at the high‑school, collegiate, or professional level.

Required skills

• Knowledge of women’s basketball strategies, NCAA rules, and physical‑conditioning techniques.
• Ability to assess athletic talent and provide constructive feedback.
• Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.
