Assistant Service Manager

About the role

The Assistant Service Manager supports the service and tire team under the direction of the Store Service Manager. This role helps drive sales across labor, parts, tires, and fleet business while ensuring the service shop runs efficiently and safely.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with customer care, work order processing, register assistance, and facility maintenance.
• Maintain service equipment, uphold housekeeping standards, and manage tire stocking.
• Follow all POS transaction policies, inventory integrity, reverse logistics, and vendor payment procedures.
• Address customer service issues, complaints, and business opportunities in partnership with management.
• Drive service center sales goals through direct customer engagement and coaching of advisors.
• Train and coach service associates on Pep Boys Customer Care Process, Courtesy Vehicle Inspections (CVIs), and store systems.
• Monitor shop productivity, workflow, safety, and efficiency.
• Act as primary supervisor in the absence of management, handling opening and closing responsibilities.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of experience in an automotive service environment; sales experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Basic mathematical proficiency for calculating commissions and discounts.

Required skills

• POS system operation and transaction handling.
• Inventory management and reverse logistics knowledge.
