Assistant Research Scientist/Engineer in Transportation

About the role

The Texas A&M Transportation Institute seeks an Assistant Research Scientist/Engineer to lead and contribute to transportation research projects, manage contracts, and develop proposals. The position is based at the TTI headquarters in Bryan, TX, with a hybrid work arrangement after an initial on‑site period.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and report on research and development project phases, including data collection, analysis, and documentation.
• Prepare technical reports, memoranda, and presentations for sponsors and technical meetings.
• Manage multidisciplinary teams of staff, graduate, and undergraduate students to ensure timely delivery of high‑quality deliverables.
• Seek and obtain externally funded research projects, serving as PI, Co‑PI, or lead contributor on proposals.
• Present research findings to sponsors, academic audiences, and conferences.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in a related field with at least three years of relevant professional experience.
• Strong research record and ability to complete projects on time and within budget.
• Valid Class “C” driver’s license and willingness to travel for field data collection and conferences.

Required skills

• Experience in applied research duties such as data collection, analysis, and synthesis.
• Ability to prepare technical documentation, literature reviews, and project reports.
• Proficiency in coordinating multi‑disciplinary research teams.
