Assistant Project Manager – General Construction

About the role

The company is seeking an organized, proactive, and detail‑oriented Assistant Project Manager to support project execution and onsite coordination at its Birmingham, AL location. This role ensures projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide onsite leadership and support to Project Managers and Construction Leadership teams.
• Assist with planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects from pre‑construction through completion.
• Serve as a communication hub between clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
• Monitor project schedules, budgets, and progress to help achieve objectives.
• Coordinate subcontractor activities and support project logistics.
• Maintain project documentation, reporting, meeting coordination, and record keeping.
• Assist with procurement, material tracking, and equipment coordination.
• Identify and help resolve project issues, schedule impacts, and field challenges.
• Ensure compliance with specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.
• Participate in project meetings, site visits, and client interactions as needed.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of project management or coordination experience in construction.
• Experience supporting commercial construction projects preferred.
• Exposure to data centers, healthcare facilities, banking/financial institutions, or commercial construction projects.
• Construction‑related degree preferred but not required; equivalent industry experience considered.

Required skills

• Basic proficiency with construction management software.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with project documentation tools.
