Assistant Project Manager – Construction (30% travel)

About the role

We are looking for an Assistant Project Manager (APM) with solid construction experience to support a variety of projects, from commercial offices to historic preservation sites. The role involves close collaboration with the Project Manager to keep projects on schedule, within budget, and compliant with all regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing and maintaining project schedules, budgets, and forecasts.
• Monitor performance, prepare progress reports, track costs, change orders, and flag issues.
• Coordinate daily construction activities with subcontractors, designers, owners, and regulatory bodies.
• Maintain project documentation such as RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, daily logs, and field reports.
• Support procurement, review invoices, process pay applications, and aid in change‑order negotiations.
• Conduct site visits and inspections to verify progress, quality, and safety, documenting findings and corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with contract terms, permits, codes, and federal requirements where applicable.
• Assist with project closeout, including punch lists, as‑built drawings, warranties, and O&M manuals.
• Help enforce QA/QC and safety programs and contribute to claims preparation and lessons learned.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of progressive construction experience with both site and office exposure.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, scheduling, cost control, and contract administration.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, organization, and time‑management skills.
