Assistant Professor of the Practice – Mechanical Engineering

About the role

The Department of Mechanical Engineering seeks a full‑time, non‑tenure‑track Assistant Professor of the Practice to deliver high‑quality undergraduate and graduate instruction. The position focuses on preparing students for professional engineering careers through innovative teaching and mentorship.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and teach courses in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, dynamics, and solid mechanics.
• Prepare syllabi, lecture materials, homework assignments, and handouts.
• Plan and conduct laboratory sessions and supervise student projects, including capstone work.
• Utilize e‑learning platforms and computational software to enhance instruction.
• Administer and grade exams and assignments, ensuring compliance with ABET accreditation standards.
• Hold regular office hours to provide academic support, career guidance, and mentorship.
• Engage in continuous professional development and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
• Minimum of five years of relevant industrial experience.
• Demonstrated ability to teach effectively at the undergraduate (and potentially graduate) level.
