Assistant Professor of Professional Practice, Strategic Communication

About the role

The Department of Strategic Communication at the University of Miami seeks a full‑time Assistant Professor of Professional Practice to teach courses in social media strategy, analytics, influencer and creator partnerships, and brand collaborations. The appointment begins on August 15, 2026 and includes teaching six courses per academic year and advising undergraduate and graduate students.

Key responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses covering social media messaging, advertising strategy, public relations strategy, and project management.
• Develop and update curriculum to reflect current industry practices and emerging digital trends.
• Advise student projects, provide career guidance, and support academic advising.
• Maintain an active professional profile and bring real‑world experience into classroom discussions.
• Design and deliver online and specialized certificate programs.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in advertising, public relations, communication, marketing, or a related field.
• Seven to ten years of professional experience in social media strategy, influencer marketing, content creation, or digital campaign management.
• Demonstrated expertise in at least three areas such as social media campaign implementation, analytics, brand partnership, co‑marketing, audience engagement, or influencer strategy.
• Ability to teach core advertising or public relations courses.
• Passion for student mentorship and academic advising.
• Interest in developing online and certificate programs; experience in entertainment, sports, arts, or fashion is highly desirable.
