Assistant Professor of Health & Human Performance

About the role

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley seeks a dedicated Assistant Professor in Health & Human Performance to join its Department of Health & Human Performance beginning Fall 2027. This nine‑month tenure‑track position involves research, teaching, and service within a multicultural, bilingual environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain an independent research agenda in exercise science or kinesiology.
• Secure external funding through grant proposals.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, employing face‑to‑face, hybrid, and online modalities.
• Participate in departmental, college, and university committees and task forces.
• Provide service to the university, professional organizations, and the broader community.

• Demonstrated record of success in research, teaching, and professional service in exercise science or kinesiology.
• Commitment to student success and to advancing the university’s mission.
• Ability to teach in a distributed campus setting and to use technology‑enhanced pedagogies.
