Assistant Professor of French

About the role

The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at Trinity University seeks an Assistant Professor of French to join its faculty. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate French courses across all proficiency levels and contribute to the university’s First‑Year Experience program.

Key responsibilities

• Teach beginning, intermediate, and advanced undergraduate French language courses.
• Offer advanced courses in French and Francophone literature and culture.
• Develop and revise curriculum for the Modern Languages and Literatures department.
• Teach university‑wide First‑Year Experience courses.
• Engage in scholarly research and publish peer‑reviewed articles in French studies.

Required profile

• PhD (or foreign equivalent) in Romance Languages, French, or a closely related field.
• At least one academic year (9 months) of post‑baccalaureate experience as an Assistant Professor of French or in a comparable university‑level position.
• Demonstrated experience teaching French or Romance literature at the university level.
• Research record with a minimum of two peer‑reviewed journal articles in the field of French language.
• Experience in curriculum development and familiarity with French history and cultural studies.
