Assistant Professor of Film and Digital Media Production

About the role

The Louisiana State University School of Theatre seeks a tenure‑track Assistant Professor to join its growing BFA in Film and Television program beginning Fall 2026. This full‑time, nine‑month appointment will involve teaching, mentorship, and scholarly activity in film and digital media production.

Key responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate courses in production and post‑production, covering directing, cinematography, editing, sound, film aesthetics and history.
• Mentor students and prepare them for professional careers in the film and television industry.
• Contribute to curriculum development, internship and study‑abroad opportunities, and equipment management for the BFA program.
• Pursue a program of creative and scholarly research at national and international levels.
• Participate in student recruitment, public events such as LSU’s Take Film Festival, and service to the School, College, and University.

Required profile

• Master of Fine Arts in Film, Television, or a closely related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Demonstrated professional experience in filmmaking, television, or digital media.
• At least three years of college‑level teaching experience is preferred.
• Strong industry connections and engagement with professional organizations.
