Assistant Professor of Computer Science – Artificial Intelligence

About the role

Texas A&M International University seeks a tenure‑track Assistant Professor in Computer Science with a focus on Artificial Intelligence to start in Fall 2027. The position combines teaching, research, and service within a vibrant, bicultural community.

Key responsibilities

• Establish an independent, externally funded AI research program covering machine learning, NLP, computer vision, deep learning, and related areas.
• Teach undergraduate AI, machine learning, computer vision, and related courses, and contribute to graduate instruction as needed.
• Mentor undergraduate and graduate student research projects and senior design teams.
• Participate in curriculum development, accreditation activities, and School of Engineering service.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field by the start date (candidates near completion are acceptable).
• Demonstrated expertise in at least one AI sub‑field such as machine learning, NLP, computer vision, deep learning, generative AI, multimodal learning, reinforcement learning, or trustworthy AI.
• Evidence of ability to secure external research funding and to mentor student research.
• Commitment to teaching excellence and interdisciplinary collaboration.
