Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry & Sex Therapist

About the role

The University of Miami seeks a full‑time Assistant Professor in Clinical Psychiatry who is also a certified sex therapist. The position is housed in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and supports the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center Survivorship and Supportive Care Institute.

Key responsibilities

• Provide mental health services for patients experiencing sexual health concerns following cancer diagnosis and treatment.
• Deliver anxiety, depression, and coping interventions for oncology patients.
• Conduct mental health screenings, brief psychological interventions, and comprehensive assessments.
• Provide individual, couples, and group therapy focused on sexual function, communication, and emotional well‑being.
• Document services in compliance with state regulations and professional standards.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and identify patients needing psychiatric evaluation.
• Assist in developing culturally sensitive mental‑health programs, community talks, and educational resources.

Required profile

• Doctoral degree (Psy.D. or Ph.D.) in psychology or related field.
• Valid State of Florida psychologist license or eligibility.
• Active AASECT Sex Therapist certification in good standing.
• Experience in behavioral medicine and interdisciplinary team settings.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
