Assistant Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology

About the role

The Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine is expanding and seeks an Assistant Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology to join its faculty. This full‑time position involves delivering high‑quality patient care, teaching, and advancing research.

Key responsibilities

• Provide ophthalmology medical and surgical services according to service rotation and call schedule.
• Educate residents and medical students on clinical ophthalmology.
• Maintain high clinical quality, productivity, and departmental citizenship.
• Represent the department with clinicians, trainees, and staff at affiliate and referral practices.
• Develop referral and educational relationships within the University of Miami Health System and beyond.
• Participate in national and regional meetings to build a clinical leadership presence.
• Secure and manage funding for translational research, clinical trials, and other academic activities.
• Contribute to quality‑assurance protocols and clinical outcome studies for Bascom Palmer Eye Institute.
• Perform administrative and committee duties as assigned, including CME organization.
• Provide patient care at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute satellite locations as needed.
