About the role
The Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine is expanding and seeks a full‑time Assistant Professor of Clinical specializing in corneal and refractive surgery. This faculty position combines patient care, education, and research within a leading academic medical center.
Key responsibilities
- Provide ophthalmology medical and surgical services according to service rotation and call schedule.
- Rotate to other sites within the University of Miami Health System as directed.
- Educate residents and medical students in clinical settings.
- Maintain high clinical quality, productivity, and departmental citizenship.
- Represent the department with clinicians, trainees, and staff at affiliate and referral practices.
- Develop referral and educational relationships regionally and nationally.
- Participate in national and regional meetings to build a clinical leadership presence.
- Secure funding for translational research, clinical trials, and other academic activities.
- Engage in quality‑assurance protocols and clinical outcome studies.
- Perform administrative and committee duties as assigned, including CME organization.
- Provide patient care at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute satellite locations when needed.
Required profile
- Board‑certified ophthalmologist with specialization in corneal and refractive surgery.
- Demonstrated clinical expertise and a commitment to high‑quality patient care.
- Strong dedication to teaching and mentoring residents and medical students.
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and develop academic partnerships.
- Willingness to engage in research, quality improvement, and departmental service.
