Assistant Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology – Corneal/Refractive Surgery

About the role

The Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine is expanding and seeks a full‑time Assistant Professor of Clinical specializing in corneal and refractive surgery. This faculty position combines patient care, education, and research within a leading academic medical center.

Key responsibilities

• Provide ophthalmology medical and surgical services according to service rotation and call schedule.
• Rotate to other sites within the University of Miami Health System as directed.
• Educate residents and medical students in clinical settings.
• Maintain high clinical quality, productivity, and departmental citizenship.
• Represent the department with clinicians, trainees, and staff at affiliate and referral practices.
• Develop referral and educational relationships regionally and nationally.
• Participate in national and regional meetings to build a clinical leadership presence.
• Secure funding for translational research, clinical trials, and other academic activities.
• Engage in quality‑assurance protocols and clinical outcome studies.
• Perform administrative and committee duties as assigned, including CME organization.
• Provide patient care at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute satellite locations when needed.

Required profile

• Board‑certified ophthalmologist with specialization in corneal and refractive surgery.
• Demonstrated clinical expertise and a commitment to high‑quality patient care.
• Strong dedication to teaching and mentoring residents and medical students.
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and develop academic partnerships.
• Willingness to engage in research, quality improvement, and departmental service.
