Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine – Hospital Medicine

About the role

The University of Miami Department of Medicine, Division of Hospital Medicine, is seeking an Assistant Professor to provide direct inpatient care and contribute to the education of medical students, residents, and fellows. This full‑time academic position combines clinical responsibilities with teaching and scholarly activities.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver direct care to adult non‑surgical hospitalized patients.
• Provide consultations for patients across all services, including telephone consults for non‑service units.
• Coordinate internal medicine subspecialty care for inpatients.
• Participate in quality‑improvement initiatives and committee work.
• Engage in the education of medical students, residents, and fellows.
• Lead academic projects related to education, quality, safety, or departmental administration.

Required profile

• Valid American Board Certification in Internal Medicine.
• MD or DO degree from an ABIM‑recognized internal medicine residency program.
• Unrestricted Florida medical license or eligibility to obtain one.
• Commitment to maintain CME requirements and meet institutional licensing standards.
• Strong clinical knowledge and excellent interpersonal communication skills.
