Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine – Hepatology

About the role

The University of Miami Health System is seeking an Assistant or Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine specializing in Hepatology. This full‑time academic appointment involves direct patient care, teaching, and research within a leading university‑based health system.

Key responsibilities

• Provide outpatient Hepatology care at the University of Miami Hospital and Clinics.
• Perform routine endoscopic procedures for Hepatology patients.
• Deliver inpatient care on a rotating basis within the APP‑run Hepatology service.
• Participate in on‑call rotations.
• Initiate and contribute to clinical research studies.
• Teach and mentor residents and fellows.

Required profile

• MD or DO degree.
• ACGME‑accredited U.S. Internal Medicine residency.
• Board‑eligible or board‑certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
• Board‑eligible or board‑certified in Transplant Hepatology (preferred).
• Valid, unrestricted Florida medical license (or eligibility to obtain before credentialing).
• Current BLS certification and ACLS certification.
• Valid DEA license.

Required skills

• Endoscopic procedures.
• BLS (Basic Life Support).
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support).
• DEA licensure for prescribing controlled substances.
